Wayfinder's Previously Delayed Xbox Launch Now Has A Date, And It's Sooner Than I Thought It Would Be

After Digital Extremes exited as the publisher, Wayfinder faced a bizarre situation, causing delays in the release of the dungeon-delving game on other platforms. Although the PlayStation 5 version eventually launched after receiving the Echoes update, the Xbox version was still scheduled for release by the end of 2024.

As the year drew to a close, it became increasingly unlikely that the Xbox version would meet that deadline. The game was submitted to Microsoft for certification, but the holidays passed with no new updates.

However, the silence has been broken, and we now have a release date for Wayfinder's Xbox port. Surprisingly, it's earlier than expected. While I anticipated a February release, the team announced that Xbox players can jump in on January 28th. At launch, the game will be available at a 10% discount (base Steam price is $25) and will feature full cross-play functionality.

Shared on X, the Wayfinder team at Airship Syndicate navigated the transition, the game saw genre shifts after early access. This caused delays in releases on other platforms. While the PlayStation 5 version eventually launched following the Echoes update, the Xbox version remained slated for "by the end of 2024."
