V Rising Has BIG Update Coming

Published on: 3/20/2025

Last year, V Rising, the vampire-themed survival game, finally reached its 1.0 milestone. Since then, it’s carved out a solid spot in the genre, blending the design vibes of hits like Valheim, Palworld, and Don’t Starve with its own bloodthirsty twist. Stunlock Studios, the team behind it, hasn’t been kicking back, though—they’ve been grinding away on version 1.1, set to bring a wave of new features throughout 2025. A recent Steam dev update just gave us a sneak peek at what’s coming.

V Rising already offers plenty to chew on, but this update shows how it’s poised to grow even more. The Steam post, dubbed “Weapons of the Night,” zooms in on combat upgrades, revealing three new weapons for 1.1. First up are the Claws, which stack a “puncture” effect to shred enemies over time. Then there’s the Twinblade—a staff with knives at both ends—that you can hurl at foes, sending them skyward before slamming them down wherever you please. Finally, the Throwing Daggers bring a ranged option, flung out and magically yanked back, tearing through anything in their way.

Each weapon gets its own artifact version too. The Claws pair with the Talons of the Lich Beast, which summon skeletons and heal the wielder. The Twinblade’s Fate Dancers add a chilling touch, while the Throwing Daggers’ Wraithblades lean into Phantasm effects. On top of that, Stunlock’s tossing in a new combat trick: Weapon Coating. This lets you tweak your attacks with coatings tied to each magic type, giving you, as the blog puts it, “one more method to specialize your play style.”
