The Blood of Dawnwalker Offers Players a New Gameplay Showcase

The Blood of Dawnwalker, a game that imagines a fusion of Geralt from The Witcher and Blade, unveiled a 20-minute gameplay trailer over the weekend, revealing an intriguing twist: what if this hybrid hero also channeled Corvo Attano from Dishonored? This new dimension shines through when night falls, and the protagonist, Coen, transforms from human to vampire, unlocking abilities like Shadowstep—a power akin to Dishonored’s Blink. As design director Daniel Sadowski notes, Coen’s vampire form boasts enhanced mobility, with a suite of exploration skills that come alive after dark.
During the day, Coen is no slouch. The trailer shows him deftly wielding a sword against bandits, proving his combat prowess, and using hexes—magic that stuns foes or deals minor damage over time, distinct from Geralt’s signs but equally tactical. However, vampirism, while advantageous in a vampire-ruled world, doesn’t make Coen invincible, as demonstrated when a formidable boss swiftly ends him in the trailer’s climax.
The Blood of Dawnwalker clearly draws inspiration from other titles, but that’s not a drawback if executed well. A medieval world where you zip around as a supercharged vampire warrior sounds like a thrilling way to game. Note that the trailer showcases a “pre-beta” build, so elements may evolve, though Rebel Wolves’ confidence in sharing such an extensive preview suggests no major redesigns are on the horizon. The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release in 2026.
