BetaDwarf, the studio behind the action RPG Vaultbreakers, has secured a major new investor in Square Enix. The investment was announced alongside a fresh gameplay trailer and coincides with an ongoing public playtest.

In a press release, CEO Stefan Kabbelgaard shared, “Having Square Enix join us is a game-changer, bringing their expertise, talent, and resources to the table.” With over 15 tests and 50,000 players already involved, he added, “This support at such an advanced stage of production feels incredible—it’s like we’re set up for a grand slam instead of just starting an unpredictable journey.”

Vaultbreakers is a top-down action RPG where players battle bosses in intense brawler-style combat, explore a dynamic world, and hunt for lost relics in a quest to escape with the loot. It offers both PvE and PvPvE modes, challenging players to grab what they can and make a getaway.

Alongside the investment news, Vaultbreakers debuted its first full gameplay trailer and launched a playtest. Responding to community feedback, two highly requested features have been prioritized: solo queue, available in the current playtest, and a PvE mode, slated for release in the coming months.

The playtest kicked off on July 3 and wraps up July 11th at 11:59 PM CEST. With this significant investment and a clear roadmap, more testing opportunities are likely on the horizon.
