Speed, Surgery, and Chaos: Torchlight Infinite Unveils "Vorax" Season with Game-Breaking Crafting and a New Speedster Hero

Published on: 1/18/2026
If you thought Torchlight Infinite was fast before, prepare for whiplash. XD Games has unveiled its latest major update, the Vorax Season (SS11), which community manager Andre describes as "one of the most extensive yet." Packed with a new grafting mechanic that defies traditional RPG logic, a UI overhaul, and the game's fastest hero to date, this season aims to cement Torchlight Infinite as the most high-octane ARPG on the market.
Enter Vendetta Erika: The Speed Demon
The star of the update is undoubtedly the new hero variant, Vendetta Erika. Her new trait, "Vendetta's Sting," transforms her into a high-speed assassin who deals increased damage the closer she gets to her enemies.
What makes her truly unique is her synergy with movement: her movement skills automatically trigger her main attacks, eliminating the need to stop or slow down to deal damage. She moves so quickly that developers have actually implemented a "slow camera" toggle to help players avoid motion sickness while piloting her across the screen.
Surgical Crafting with "Vorax"
The season’s namesake comes from a new substance called Vorax. Players will hunt infected monsters to gather supplies for "Surgical Preparation," a system where you stack modifiers on monster families in incubation tanks to create custom boss battles. Defeating these abominations rewards you with Vorax limbs, the key ingredient for the season's headline crafting system: Grafting.
Grafting completely breaks the standard rules of gear attributes:
Impossible Combinations: Vorax gear ignores normal attribute pools, allowing stats that usually can't exist together (like armor, evasion, and energy shield) to appear on a single item.
Legendary Injection: You can break down legendary gear to extract "organs," which can then be inserted into Vorax equipment to add up to two unique legendary bonuses per piece.
This system opens the door for "never-before-seen build combinations," allowing players to create frankenstein equipment that defies the game's usual meta.
New Mechanics and Endgame Threats
Beyond the new hero and crafting, the update introduces several gameplay shifts:
Entangle Mechanic: A new spellcasting system where spells attach to enemies and auto-cast repeatedly, spreading to nearby foes like a virus.
Endgame Bosses: A new supreme boss, the Allseeing Prophet, challenges players with a mechanic involving white and black orbs. Additionally, Night Slayer, the Wilting Plume returns for an even harder challenge.
Overrealm Core: The Overrealm mechanic is now a core feature, complete with its own talent tree (similar to Path of Exile’s Atlas) for customizing gameplay.
Visuals and Quality of Life
Long-time players will appreciate the first phase of a major UI overhaul aimed at improving clarity—a common pain point in previous seasons. The update also brings visual redesigns for heroes like Rehan, Carino, and Gemma, alongside updated enemy models and effects.
To top it off, mouse and keyboard players get a new auto-aim feature to reduce wrist strain during long sessions.
Launch Details
The Torchlight Infinite Vorax season launches today, Thursday, January 15 at 6pm PT / 9pm ET. As always, the game remains free-to-play on Steam, inviting ARPG fans to dive in and test the limits of these new, rule-breaking systems.
