Rod Fergusson Has Stepped Down From Blizzard

Rod Fergusson, who served as the general manager for the Diablo franchise, has departed Blizzard after a five-year tenure. Fergusson, who oversaw the launches of Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo IV, its Vessel of Hatred expansion, and Diablo Immortal, announced his exit via social media. He didn’t share details about his next steps but expressed confidence in the Diablo team, stating they’re well-positioned for success with an exciting lineup of upcoming releases.
Earlier this year, Blizzard shared a Diablo IV roadmap, revealing that the next expansion, originally planned for annual releases, will skip 2025 and launch in 2026. Fergusson explained at DICE in February that the timeline shifted due to the time needed to develop the first expansion and address player feedback to improve the base game. The roadmap includes unreleased content like chaos powers, updates to infernal hordes, a new IP collaboration, and more. In 2026, alongside the new expansion, players can expect leaderboards, rankings, and additional features yet to be announced.
