PoE 2 Players Will Be Getting A Race Coming Very Soon.
Published on: 2/20/2025
In just a short while from now, assuming everything goes smoothly, Path of Exile is set to launch its Legacy of Phrecia event. This event will shake things up a bit by remixing the game’s ascendancies—those special class upgrades that define your character’s path. It’s one of the creative ways the folks at Grinding Gear Games (GGG) are keeping things fresh while the 3.26 update for the original Path of Exile takes a backseat, delayed due to the team pouring resources into Path of Exile 2’s upcoming 0.2 patch.
For players sticking with the classic Path of Exile, the event brings some wild and wacky ascendancy options to the table—ideas that have apparently been scribbled on GGG’s “crazy concepts” whiteboard for a while. You’ll encounter some oddball class abilities and unexpected combos, so get ready for a bit of chaos. If you’re unsure what build to try, GGG has shared a link with the details to help you decide. The event also tosses in some extra changes, like updates to Idols and other tweaks to spice things up.
Meanwhile, over in Path of Exile 2 territory, a new race event kicks off on March 2nd. These races come with a shiny prize pool featuring the game’s new Demigod items. It’s not a Hardcore mode event, but dying will still sting—you’ll be stuck frozen for a full minute as a penalty. When the event begins, hit “Join” on the character select screen, and you’ll dive into a Standard Solo Self-Found race with a fixed layout, racing to be the first to take down Doryani in Act 3.
For more details on rewards and timing, check out the official site. And if you’re skilled enough to win the final race on March 16th, you could walk away with a slick Alienware laptop decked out with a custom Path of Exile 2 design.
