Path of Exile's "Legacy of Phrecia" Event Returns Later This Month

Published on: 1/23/2026

Get ready to experiment with Ascendancies like never before—Path of Exile is bringing back the popular Legacy of Phrecia event later this month.

Originally launched last year as a creative way to bridge the gap before the 3.26 update, the event became an instant hit for its wildly flexible approach to character building. After months of community demand and a successful run as a Private League template, Grinding Gear Games (GGG) is officially bringing it back to the main servers from January 29th through February 19th.

What Makes This Event Special?

The core hook of Legacy of Phrecia is the complete replacement of standard Ascendancy classes with 19 alternate versions, offering unique and sometimes bizarre playstyles.

For example:

  • Servant of Arakaali (Shadow): Allows you to raise spiders to fight alongside you and use "Aspect of the Spider" to web your enemies—perfect for those who want to overwhelm their foes with arachnid allies.

  • Aristocrat (Duelist): A "learner" class that foregoes complex mechanics in favor of raw potential, granting more passive skill points than any other class due to having "access to the finest education."

  • Bog Shaman (Witch): A high-risk, high-reward class where you brew and ingest toxins to gain powerful skills, provided you can handle the trade-offs.

New Additions for 2026

While the core concept remains the same, this year's iteration includes updated features:

  • Idols Return: The Idols system is back, now featuring new modifiers for Settlers and Atlas Memories. (Note: There are no modifiers for Breach this time around).

  • Asynchronous Trade: Taking advantage of the recently added asynchronous trade features, players can now more easily buy, sell, and assemble specific sets of Idols to fine-tune their builds.

  • Hidden Surprises: GGG has hinted at "extra twists" that players will have to discover for themselves once the event goes live.

Whether you're looking to build a spider army or just want to experiment with a massive amount of passive points, Legacy of Phrecia offers a sandbox experience that breaks the standard rules of Wraeclast.
