Path of Exile Addresses Key Community Questions Ahead of Keepers of the Flame

Published on: 10/31/2025
With Keepers of the Flame fast approaching, Grinding Gear Games has released a comprehensive FAQ tackling some of the community’s biggest questions — from respec mechanics and unique items to trade systems and legacy content.
Respecs and Ascendancies
One of the biggest concerns players had was whether they could change their Bloodline Ascendancy. The answer is yes — players can respec their Bloodline Ascendancy by defeating a corresponding boss, free of charge. Beyond that, respecs will function as usual, using Orbs of Regret or gold.
Party play has also been clarified: multiple players can earn the same Ascendancy from the same boss encounter, provided everyone is present when the fight concludes.
Uniques, Foulborns, and Legacy Content
The FAQ confirmed that not every unique item will be eligible for the new Foulborn upgrade, but over 100 of them will be. Items tied to specific boss sources or event drops will remain excluded.
Legacy content was also addressed, particularly around the Breach system. Breachstones will continue to function in Standard league, but they will no longer be obtainable in the new Keepers of the Flame league — a sign that the team is refining what old content carries forward.
Trade Systems and Other Details
The studio also touched on asynchronous trading, noting that certain NPCs (like Faustus in the Rogue Harbour) will enable asynchronous trades — but only within player hideouts, not globally.
For lore and continuity fans, Grinding Gear reassured players that key legacy encounters, like Aul in Delve, will remain visually and mechanically unchanged.
Why It Matters
For longtime Exiles, this FAQ serves as reassurance that Grinding Gear Games is listening closely to its community. The updates prioritize player agency through flexible respecs, protect item integrity with selective Foulborn upgrades, and balance innovation with stability.
For newer players, it’s a clear signal that while Path of Exile continues to evolve, its core systems — player builds, trade, and legacy mechanics — remain familiar and approachable.
