Path Of Exile 2 Speedrunner Crushes Official Race With WARRIOR

Path of Exile 2 hit early access back in December, and now that the initial buzz has settled, we’re all kind of twiddling our thumbs waiting for fresh content. To keep things lively, Grinding Gear Games is hosting some smaller community events, and in the first official race, a class widely considered the game’s weakest just crushed the competition.

Path of Exile has a tradition of sanctioned speedrunning events, and this kickoff race was an any% sprint to finish Act 3. Two more races are coming up—March 9 and March 16—so there’s still time to jump in. Winners in each class snag a special item to flaunt their victory, and the grand champ of the final race scores a laptop. Pretty cool prize pool!

When the game launched, clearing Act 3 took most of us over 10 hours, but a racer named Angormus blazed through it in an astonishing 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 37 seconds—40 minutes ahead of second place, leaving everyone else in the dust.

Surprisingly, he pulled this off with the Warrior, a class many, including me, have dismissed as Path of Exile 2’s runt. Its sluggish clear speed, lack of life-scaling options in the passive tree, and reliance on armor for defense have landed it at the bottom of most players’ rankings. But for speedrunning the campaign? Turns out it’s a beast.

Angormus showcased jaw-dropping skill, capitalizing on a clever animation cancel players have uncovered in PoE2’s early months. By starting a Rolling Slam and chaining it into Boneshatter after the first hit, you can skip the sluggish second swing and unleash a massive area-of-effect slam instead. It’s especially brutal if the first target crosses the 40% stun threshold, boosting Boneshatter’s damage and range even further.
