Path of Exile 2 patch is spicing up Atlas map towers by tossing in boss battles

Twitch streamer ‘Empyrian’ weighed in, pointing out that towers now eating up a tablet activation feels like a downgrade, especially since “tower layouts are currently much worse than most maps.” He thinks better layouts could save the change, but as it stands, it’s a step backward. I’m personally fine with towers getting a bit more spice, even if it tweaks my min-maxing potential, though I’d argue a bigger overhaul might be the real fix down the line.

The patch isn’t just about towers, though. It’s also bringing new support gems—focusing on skills that need more love—and some fresh unique items to boost your top PoE 2 builds. Take the Bringer of Rain, a helm that lets you wield two-handed melee weapons in one hand (at the cost of chest armor), or the Hammer of Faith, a massive two-handed mace packing huge physical damage, a mana regen boost, and random shrine buffs that pop up now and then.

GGG pegged patch 0.2.0’s release for “about one month” last week, which puts it around the week of March 21. We’ll keep you posted as the date firms up.
