Path Of Exile 2 NOT Coming 1.0 in 2025?

Fans of Path of Exile 2 hoping for a full release this year might need to temper their expectations. In a chat with PC Gamer, game director Jonathan Rogers shared that Grinding Gear Games is still aiming to exit early access in 2025, though it could stretch a bit longer than planned.
The game’s Steam page notes that early access will run “as long as needed,” with a minimum of six months. Since it launched in December 2024, the earliest full release would land around June—three months from now. But Rogers made it clear that’s not happening, calling it flat-out impossible.
“We’re still roughly on course overall,” Rogers explained. “Back before things got intense, we tossed around a six-month early access window, but looking back, that was never realistic. Now, I’m thinking more like a year. I’d love to wrap it up this year, but we’ll see. It might spill over a little, though I’m hopeful. The goal is still a full 2025 release.”
Adding new classes might also slow down. Path of Exile 2 kicked off early access with six classes, with plans for six more before hitting 1.0. But that’s proving tricky. Rogers said he’d “love” to drop a new class with every update, but the upcoming Dawn of the Hunt patch on April 4—the game’s biggest yet—threw the team for a loop. Getting the Huntress ready was “incredibly stressful,” locking in a release date only at the last second.
“It’s super nitty-gritty production stuff,” Rogers admitted. “It was a total headache. I’d like to add a class per league, but I’m done promising it. It just creates uncertainty, and we couldn’t nail down dates for anyone.”
This echoes the chaos before Path of Exile 2’s launch. Developers from the original game were pulled in to help, which delayed a planned expansion for the first title. Rogers reflected in January that they’d been “kidding themselves” with the initial timeline—post-launch bugs hit hard, demanding an all-out effort to stabilize things.
