New ARPG Voin Gets First Massive Update

FromSoftware RPGs thrive on gruesome foes, stunningly crafted melee weapons, and grim fantasy realms—hallmarks of the genre. But imagine Dark Souls shifting to first-person, cranking up the speed, and blending in some of Doom’s fiery, brutal vibe. That’s where Voin comes in. Crafted single-handedly by one developer, this already bold RPG just leveled up with its first major content drop, introducing a new dungeon and a batch of fresh enemies.
Voin hit early access late last year, and its solo creator, Nikita Sozidar, has been busy. An earlier update brought a new difficulty mode and some handy tweaks, but those feel minor next to the Thunderborn update that rolled out today. The star of the show is a new dungeon tucked beneath the Cathedral of Veiled Lament. Picture creepy hallways, cascading waterfalls, and upside-down cathedral spires looming overhead—it’s a striking spot. Deep inside, you’ll face Nomme, The Summoner of Tears, a new boss guarding Hadracon’s Scroll. Want to reach Hadracon’s Citadel? You’ll need to take Nomme down first, making that journey tougher than before.
The dungeon also throws five new enemy types your way: a reanimated skeletal warrior, a hulking titan of flame and ash, and a massive mutant beast with deadly claws, to name a few. Beyond that, there’s the Circle of the Damned—a new arena gauntlet swarming with enemies. Survive it, and you’ll snag a prize worth the fight: a weapon so potent it rips through reality itself. Pretty sweet deal.
