Lost Ark February Update: Daily Restructuring, "Guardianknight" Rename, and 4th Anniversary Plans

Lost Ark is gearing up for a massive February update that aims to streamline the daily grind and celebrate the game’s fourth anniversary. In a new team update, Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG outlined significant changes coming next month, including a rework of daily activities, the removal of the Purification system, and the official renaming of the next playable class.
Goodbye Dragonknight, Hello Guardianknight
The most immediate change concerns the game's newest class. Originally revealed as the Dragonknight, the class will now be known as the Guardianknight when she arrives in the Western version of the game.
The developers explained the reasoning behind the shift, stating that while "Dragonknight" sounded cool, "Guardianknight better aligns with the game's lore and source material," specifically noting that her power is derived from the Guardian Embereth.
Restructuring the Daily Grind
A major focus of the February update is improving the player experience by reducing daily friction.
Purification System Removed: The controversial Purification system is being retired completely. The developers cited "mixed feedback" and instances where the system hindered players more than it helped, particularly regarding Silver and Shard acquisition.
Daily Activity Rework: The update will change how certain materials are earned, adjusting which rewards are character-bound versus tradable.
Quality of Life: New tools are arriving to speed up progression management, including an auto-cut tool for Ability Stones and options for bulk honing, Karma, and Quality Tapping.
4th Anniversary & Progression Events
The February update lands just in time for Lost Ark's fourth anniversary in the West. To celebrate, players can expect a suite of new progression events:
South Rimeria Powerpass: A new boost to help players get alternate characters up to speed quickly.
New Express Event: A "new twist" on the standard Express event formula is promised, though details remain under wraps.
Celebration Rewards: The anniversary event will feature exclusive items for event characters and other celebratory rewards.
With these changes, Amazon Games hopes to address player burnout while laying the groundwork for a fresh year of content.
