Last Epoch Season 5 Unleashes the Rage of Morditas on October 1

Last Epoch Season 5: Rage of the Frostborn launches October 1, and Eleventh Hour Games is introducing an entirely new seasonal mechanic built around one simple idea: kill as much as possible before time runs out.

The new Rage of Morditas encounters will appear throughout both the campaign and Monolith of Fate. Players who discover a Blood Crystal can activate it to summon the Shade of Morditas, beginning a timed slaughter where killing enemies extends the clock and earns Bloodrage Charges. Those charges unlock powerful temporary buffs and eventually become the currency used to manipulate the encounter's rewards.

Kill Fast, Then Kill Everything Again

The first phase encourages players to move quickly through an area and rack up as many kills as possible. Morditas can grant several Bloodrage buffs along the way, including effects that create freezing projectiles, spawn explosive blood orbs, improve movement speed, and even summon lizards into battle.

Once the timer expires, things get considerably more chaotic.

A Gauntlet of Blood and Ice forms around the player, and enemies killed during the first phase are resurrected for another fight. Survive the gauntlet and the Blood Crystal finally becomes a source of loot.

A New Way to Hunt for Gear

Instead of simply dropping a pile of items, Rage of Morditas presents players with five reward slots. Bloodrage Charges can be spent to take an item or manipulate the available rewards through two new systems: Bloody and Frozen Rituals.

Frozen Rituals sacrifice a reward slot but cause subsequent options to match that item's type while attempting to retain similar affixes. Bloody Rituals work in the opposite direction, removing an item type from subsequent rolls. Performing additional rituals reduces the number of choices available but can improve the resulting rewards.

Season 5 also introduces Ice and Blood Forging Potential on items earned through the mechanic. Ice Forging Potential has a chance to avoid being consumed during crafting, while Blood Forging Potential increases the chance of a critical crafting success.

Morditas Becomes an Endgame Boss

The seasonal mechanic ultimately leads to Morditas himself.

Completing Rage of Morditas encounters progresses a three-part Woven Echo chain, with an Anger system increasing both difficulty and rewards. Players overwhelmed by the increased challenge can lower Morditas' Anger before continuing.

Defeating Morditas also opens the path toward Season 5's new pinnacle encounter, Demigod's Ascendance. This version of Morditas, known as the God of Bloodshed, requires 400 Corruption and is designed to help bridge the difficulty gap leading toward Uber Aberroth.

Season 5: Rage of the Frostborn launches October 1 at 11:00 AM CDT, bringing Rage of Morditas alongside new skills, Uniques, Set Items, faction improvements, and additional endgame changes.

For Last Epoch players who enjoy fast clearing, crafting, and pushing increasingly difficult endgame encounters, Rage of Morditas looks like it will touch all three.
