Last Epoch Makes a Strategic Move: Season 4 "Shattered Omens" Dodges ARPG Rivals

In the highly competitive action-RPG space, timing is everything. After a few bumpy seasons of scheduling conflicts, Eleventh Hour Games (EHG) has made its smartest logistical play yet: setting the Last Epoch Season 4 release date right in the sweet spot between its two biggest rivals.
Titled Shattered Omens, Last Epoch Season 4 is officially slated to launch on Thursday, March 26.
Dodging the Minefield
In the past, Last Epoch has suffered from unfortunate release calendar clashes. Both the Season 2 and Season 3 launches were overshadowed by massive updates from Grinding Gear Games for Path of Exile, forcing ARPG fans to choose between the two titles.
This time, EHG appears to have learned its lesson. Path of Exile’s 3.28 update arrives on March 6, while Blizzard’s massive Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred expansion won't drop until April 28. By locking in a late-March release, Last Epoch slots perfectly into the gap, offering a fresh loot-grind just as players might be burning out on their early PoE 3.28 characters.
What’s Coming in Season 4 and Beyond?
When Shattered Omens drops on March 26, players can look forward to a robust set of features, including:
Omen Windows: New horde-style combat encounters.
Corrupted Runes: High-risk, high-reward crafting items that can either massively buff or entirely ruin your gear.
Echo Chaining: Streamlined progression in the endgame Monoliths.
New Skills & Polish: The introduction of fresh combat abilities and improved visual effects/animations.
Looking further ahead, EHG is steadily laying the groundwork for the game's first full expansion, Orobyss. Planned for release sometime after Season 5, the expansion will be free to all existing players and is set to introduce two new story chapters, a revamped endgame, and a complete overhaul of the skill system featuring new "sigils."
For now, all eyes are on March 26. Detailed feature reveals for Season 4 are expected to begin rolling out on March 19, giving fans plenty to chew on before diving back into Eterra.
