Last Epoch Drops 100 Page Patch Notes... Season 2 is INSANE!

Published on: 4/13/2025

Last Epoch’s Season 2, Tombs of the Erased, might just be the biggest ARPG highlight of 2025 so far. After bursting onto the scene in 2024 as a legit rival to Diablo 4 and Path of Exile, Eleventh Hour Games has been grinding away, adding fresh features and sharpening what already worked. With Season 2 looming, game director Judd Cobler walked through the massive upgrades in store, from revamped crafting to a beefier endgame, giving plenty of reasons to dive into this update.

Originally slated for an earlier release, Eleventh Hour delayed Season 2 to avoid clashing with Path of Exile 2’s Dawn of the Hunt. What seemed like a tough break for a smaller studio now looks like a smart move, especially with PoE 2’s bumpy second season. The buzz for Last Epoch’s changes is growing fast.

Tombs of the Erased introduces the Woven, followers of the familiar Weaver faction, and a new endgame packed with tombs and cemeteries where the Weaver’s been tinkering with souls and memories. In these zones, cracking open cocoons releases souls that juice up nearby enemies, making them tougher but dropping Memory Amber, a new currency. Clearing a zone lets you enchant class-specific idols—items slotted into a special grid for stat boosts—adding an extra affix and Weaver’s Touch points to grow their power over time. Don’t like the enchantment? Spend Memory Amber to reroll without wrecking your favorite idol.

New endgame maps, called Woven Echoes, drop from Weaver zones or can be bought from merchants. With 36 varieties, they unlock unique areas with fresh challenges, objectives, and boss fights, including beefed-up versions of old bosses like Uber Aberroth, a souped-up Season 1 pinnacle boss that’ll test even the best-geared players. You don’t need to be a top-tier player to score rewards, though—Woven Echoes offer special uniques, new crafting options, and drops to fast-track your alts’ endgame grind. Ranking up with The Woven works like other factions but doesn’t lock you out of groups like the Circle of Fortune or Merchant’s Guild.

The Weaver Tree, a sprawling upgrade web, feels like Last Epoch’s take on Path of Exile’s Atlas, letting you tweak endgame Echoes with modifiers and risk-reward options. One slick feature lets you slot a favorite item to boost drop rates for similar gear after completing Echoes.

Last Epoch already excels in areas like its customizable loot filter and strong class vibes, but its crafting system steals the show for being both newbie-friendly and deep. Tombs of the Erased adds set item crafting and upgrades the Legendary Potential system, which lets you slam great stats from one item onto a unique for random bonuses. Now, you can reroll low Legendary Potential, and higher-tier Temporal Sanctum runs let you pick an affix to guarantee its transfer. The Relic of the Observer lets you swap an item’s core stat for another using just one Forging Potential, while the Woven Offering sacrifices a strong item to reroll mods and implicits on a matching piece. The Thaumaturgy Device swaps prefixes for double-stacked experimental affixes, and new crafting consumables give even more control.

The endgame, once fun but a bit thin, now feels packed with options, each tied to clear goals for improving your build. The Monolith of Fate gets fresh objectives, snappier horde modes, and less annoying Echo Spires that won’t snipe you from afar. Dungeons let non-hardcore players use keys to respawn, and two new charms shake things up—one spawns more Loot Lizards, another warps you straight to the boss.

The Sentinel, often seen as the weakest class, gets a major glow-up with reworked Paladin and Void Knight passive trees. A huge player request is also answered: you can now respec your mastery by visiting Chronomancer Lerinne with enough gold. Other classes see tweaks too, alongside balance changes for skills and items, with the full patch notes spanning over 100 internal pages—Eleventh Hour’s biggest update yet.

Quality-of-life upgrades include overhauled controller targeting tailored to specific skills, a beta test for WASD movement (toggleable in the menu), and optional auto-storage for crafting items to cut down on clicks.

Last Epoch Season 2: Tombs of the Erased launches April 17 at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST / 6pm CEST.
