Last Epoch Delays Season 2 Launch

Last Epoch Delays Season 2 Launch

Published on: 3/22/2025

The indie ARPG Last Epoch has been holding its own against a flood of top-tier competitors, but it’s clear the team knows when to pivot. Originally slated for April 2, Season 2 has now been pushed back to April 17. The reason? “Our friends in the ARPG space” picked a release date too close for comfort, threatening to split the audience and dampen Season 2’s debut.

Though they don’t name names, Path of Exile 2 seems the likely suspect, with its early access 0.2.0 patch dropping on April 4—just two days after Last Epoch’s initial plan. The Last Epoch devs explained on their forum: “We’ve recently learned that our friends in the ARPG space have chosen a release date just a couple days after ours, which would divide the player base and hinder the success of our Season 2 launch.” As a smaller studio, they rely heavily on these updates to keep the lights on and fuel their passion projects.

This delay feels like a smart, player-first move. Season 2 is a hefty update meant to reignite excitement—a common goal for live-service titles—with a new Faction, major endgame overhauls, a slew of quality-of-life improvements, and more. Meanwhile, Grinding Gear Games seems to be in a frantic scramble with Path of Exile, even delaying its next Path of Exile 1 season and issuing apologies for the overlapping chaos.

Either way, April’s shaping up to be a feast for ARPG fans, with both games bringing serious heat to the table.
