Hyperstrange Launches Hordes of Hunger in Steam Early Access

Hyperstrange, the developer behind Blood West, has officially released its new action roguelike Hordes of Hunger via Steam Early Access. The game blends influences from Dark Souls, Diablo, Hades, and Vampire Survivors, offering a dynamic mix of third-person combat and wide-angle gameplay as waves of enemies descend upon players.

In Hordes of Hunger, players can battle monsters in close quarters or shift perspective for a broader view, reminiscent of Diablo’s gameplay style. Beyond combat, objectives include securing food stores and assisting stranded survivors. Between runs, players return to the Sanctum—a home base where they can customize their loadout and cook meals for buffs before heading back into the fray. The game’s narrative unfolds through fully voiced interactions, similar to Hades, as protagonist Mirah seeks to uncover the source of the curse afflicting her homeland.

For those eager to dive in, Hordes of Hunger is available on Steam with a 20% discount until May 13, priced at $11.99 / £10.23.

Hyperstrange plans to keep the game in early access for approximately six months, introducing new weapons, skill trees, quests, maps, enemy types, boss fights, and another NPC. The studio has also indicated that the price will increase upon the game’s full release.
