Hell Clock 2.0 and Cursed War Expansion: Massive Overhaul and New Content

Published on: 7/11/2026
Rogue Snail has officially launched the most substantial update in Hell Clock history. Dropping simultaneously with the highly anticipated Cursed War DLC, the massive 2.0 patch fundamentally overhauls the game's core progression, introduces deep new endgame loops, and rebalances nearly every aspect of the action-roguelike experience. Whether you are jumping into the free 2.0 update or picking up the expansion, there is a wealth of new content to explore.
Cursed War DLC: Act IV and New Skills
For players who pick up the Cursed War expansion, the campaign continues into a brand-new fourth act. This expansion delves into the origin story of the main character, Pajeu, transporting players back to the grim reality of the Paraguay War and the pestilence that plagued it.
To help you conquer this new act, the DLC introduces six brand-new skills to master, including Tupã's Wrath, Lead Sermon, Holy Fire, and Jaguar Spear. Alongside these new abilities, players can discover dozens of exclusive Relics designed to create entirely new, screen-clearing playstyles.
Hell Clock 2.0: Journeys and Endless Nightmares
The free 2.0 update introduces the "Journeys" system—Rogue Snail's interpretation of seasons or leagues, but completely free of time pressure or FOMO. The first of these is the "Journey of Nightmares," which introduces Nightmare Portals containing deadly modifiers, unique bosses, and exclusive cosmetic rewards.
For the hardcore crowd, the endgame has been massively expanded with Endless Nightmares. This system allows players to construct their own ever-changing dungeons by slotting Shards of Place, Hope, and Fear. Progressing through 16 escalating tiers of difficulty, players will encounter 12 brand-new zones and face increasingly dangerous threats.
The Full Release of Ascension
For players who prefer a purely roguelike experience, the pre-existing Ascension endgame mode has finally left its beta state and received a massive overhaul. In this mode, players allocate "Penances" to increase their Hell Level (overall difficulty) and are given a limited number of runs to defeat the Floor 21 boss. The 2.0 update introduces the fully polished Penance tree, allowing veterans to challenge all the way up to Hell Level 100. Furthermore, Ascension now utilizes the brand-new biomes introduced in Endless Nightmares, features much smoother access to gear and relics, and introduces a new "Blessing of Beginnings" to help kickstart your early runs.
Systems Rework: Endurance, Ailments, and Blessings
Combat mechanics have received a massive tuning pass to improve survivability and build diversity. The Endurance stat has been completely reworked; instead of simply offering a chance to avoid damage, it now converts up to 75% of a massive hit into damage-over-time that ticks over 4 seconds, giving players a crucial window to heal. Status ailments have also been buffed—Bleed damage has been doubled, and Shock now causes enemies to take 40% increased critical damage.
To make individual runs feel more distinct, 2.0 introduces the Unique Blessings system, which allows players to occasionally find incredibly powerful modifiers when leveling up that simulate the effects of Unique Relics. Furthermore, veteran players can now toggle on the "All Skills Available" mode for new characters, instantly unlocking the entire skill roster right from Act 1.
