GGG adding Scrapped Content to Keep Players Happy While They Work on New Season

Last week wasn't the best for players of the original Path of Exile. Grinding Gear Games (GGG) announced a delay to the new 3.26 patch because the team has been pulled to work on the ARPG's sequel, Path of Exile 2. This news understandably upset many players.
To start this week on a better note, GGG has revealed plans to experiment with some "whacky" (their word) ideas. What exactly does that mean or when will you see it? Those details are forthcoming.
In the meantime, the team thinks it might be fun to play around with some concepts that never made it past the "brainstorm" board. Examples from the official post include "What does Path of Exile 1 look like when you get to play a Witch and ascend to become a Harbinger?" or potentially replacing all nineteen ascendancy classes with nineteen new ones.
These experiments should be interesting and might serve as a nice distraction while the team continues to work on the PoE 2 0.2 update.
