First Descendent's Third Season is coming in August

Almost a year after The First Descendant launched, it’s ready to roll out its third season, dubbed Breakthrough, with a confirmed release date of August 7, 2025, revealed at Summer Game Fest. This major update promises “expansive new content and significant structural enhancements” for the co-op shooter.
A new trailer dropped alongside the announcement, and an update blog already provides some early details. Nexon is kicking things off with a Focus Group Test for players in Korea and North America, followed by an open demo starting July 24, allowing everyone to test core elements of the update. Additionally, a Dev Livestream is scheduled for June 12 to share a roadmap for Breakthrough.
The third season faced delays after the second season’s lukewarm reception but was teased last month with a Nier: Automata collaboration and hints of more IP crossovers to come. The release date reveal also brought a fresh trailer showcasing new assets, building anticipation for what’s next.
