Epoch Update 1.4.5 Revives Golem Builds, Doubles Weaver Idols, and Teases Season 5

Published on: 4/23/2026
Eleventh Hour Games has officially rolled out Update 1.4.5 for Last Epoch, delivering a targeted strike against some of the community's most frustrating bugs and controversial balance issues. While technically a mid-cycle patch, the update brings massive quality-of-life improvements that will immediately alter the current meta. By completely overhauling minion AI, fixing broken channeling skills, and quietly reversing a highly unpopular nerf to specific idols, the developers have given players plenty of reasons to log back into Eterra.
Minions Get Smarter and Golems Return to Work
For players running Necromancer or other pet-heavy builds, this update is a massive victory. First and foremost, the developers have completely reworked general minion AI. Summoned allies will now reliably prioritize targets closest to the player's cursor, and they have been programmed to automatically identify and swarm enemies boasting the "protective" modifier.
More specifically, the patch addresses a notoriously annoying bug that the community joked was causing their Bone Golems to take "smoke breaks." Previously, golems would inexplicably stop performing any actions once they reached a certain distance from their target, leaving them standing idly by during massive fights. With this issue officially squashed, complex setups like the quad-fire-golem "Four Horsemen" build are finally back on the menu and functioning as intended. Other classes also saw critical bug squashes, most notably a fix for the Rogue's "Dancing Strikes" ability, which was previously causing players to get permanently stuck in place while playing online.
Weaver Idols Restored and Bosses Reigned In
Perhaps the biggest numerical shift in the entire patch surrounds the Humble and Stout Weaver Idols. Following a controversial data-mine prior to the current season, players noticed that the stats on these idols had been slashed in half. Update 1.4.5 has quietly reversed this, noting that it was a bug fix. Health, minion penetration across multiple elements, and all resistances on these specific idols have been officially doubled, returning them to the powerhouse glory they enjoyed in Seasons 2 and 3.
The developers also took a hard look at some of the game's most lethal enemies. The notoriously overpowered Necrotic Siege Golems have been mathematically reeled in to bring them closer in line with standard enemy scaling. Furthermore, the Shade of Orobyss boss fight received a massive quality-of-life change that will have Hardcore players breathing a sigh of relief. The boss's highly lethal, difficult-to-see blood orbs will now completely disappear the moment the Shade dies, preventing the tragic post-fight explosions that were prematurely ending Hardcore runs.
Looking to the Future
Update 1.4.5 is a tremendous patch for Last Epoch, delivering crucial fixes that breathe life back into minion-focused builds and massively buffing Weaver Idols back to their intended power levels. Beyond the immediate patch notes, the developers also took the opportunity to publicly confirm that Season 5 is officially slated to launch within the 2026 calendar year, putting to rest community rumors of a massive delay into next year.
