Elden Ring: Nightreign Adding Missing Features In The Near Future

Published on: 7/28/2025
Elden Ring: Nightreign seemed destined for greatness from the start, blending the prestige of one of gaming’s most iconic titles with a roguelike and battle royale-inspired gameplay loop, featuring a roster of legendary bosses from Elden Ring and the Dark Souls trilogy. With Bandai Namco announcing five million copies sold, the game has clearly capitalized on its potential. However, it’s not without flaws, notably the absence of a two-player mode, limiting players to solo or three-player co-op. Responding to fan feedback, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have unveiled Duo Expeditions, a two-player mode launching in just a few days.
While Nightreign shines with its gripping gameplay, it still faces hurdles to rank among the top co-op games. Full crossplay between PC and consoles remains a key missing feature, alongside the now-addressed need for a duos mode. A new trailer showcases Duo Expeditions, allowing pairs of players to tackle the game’s challenges together, though details on gameplay tweaks or balance changes for this mode are sparse. The update, arriving soon, also brings UI enhancements with patch 1.02, including improved Relics filtering options, with a sneak peek already shared.
The duo mode is a significant win, but the lack of crossplay continues to frustrate, preventing PC, Xbox, and PlayStation players from teaming up. While Nightreign’s popularity ensures easy matchmaking with random players, crossplay is a complex challenge that many hope will be next on FromSoftware’s list.
