Dragonkin: The Banished Readies Massive Crossplay Update for July 27th

Published on: 7/26/2026
Eko Software and Nacon have announced that Dragonkin: The Banished is receiving a massive free post-launch update on July 27th. Combining the contents of several recent developer previews, this major patch is set to unify the player base, introduce punishing new endgame challenges, and drop an entirely new tier of loot for dedicated dragon hunters.
Here is a deep dive into everything coming in the upcoming update.
Crossplay and City Transfers
The headline feature of this update is the official launch of Cross-Platform Multiplayer. Players will now be able to seamlessly group up and slay draconic hordes with friends across any platform, utilizing a simple invite code system to bridge the gap between ecosystems.
To complement this newly unified multiplayer environment, the developers are also introducing the City Transfer feature. Because the City of Montescail acts as your central hub for crafting, upgrades, and progression, players will now have the freedom to transfer their City from offline mode to online mode (or vice-versa) at any time. When making a transfer, your city's level, gold, resources, and residents will all seamlessly carry over. Additionally, if a host takes their online city offline, co-op partners will lose access but will be granted the option to create their own local, offline copy of that exact city to continue their progression.
Dracomundus Purgatory
For players looking to test the limits of their Ancestral Grid builds, the update introduces a brand-new endgame event: Dracomundus Purgatory. Located halfway between the surface and the abyssal depths, this unstable realm is accessed via ominous green portals that have a chance to spawn at the end of endgame hunts.
Once inside, players only have one shot to clear a set of three serpentine islands before a doomed clock runs out. The Purgatory introduces intense pressure mechanics:
The Race Against Time: You must slay enough enemies on the first two islands to access the final boss on the third. Finding hidden Sigils of the Eternal will grant you precious bonus seconds.
Stacking Curses: Each island is afflicted by deadly modifiers—ranging from teleportation traps to instant-kill doppelgangers. These curses stack as you progress, meaning you will be fighting the final boss while dealing with three simultaneous curses.
Voracious Weapons
Surviving the Dracomundus Purgatory yields a Draconic Gift chest, which holds the game's newest item tier: Voracious Weapons (also referred to as Ravenous Weapons).
Unlike standard loot, Voracious Weapons drop with a predefined name, visual effect, set of affixes, and a unique, game-altering passive ability. Because of their immense baseline power, they come with strict limitations—they cannot be enchanted, inscribed, or made divine.
However, they feature a unique progression mechanic: they can "devour" other items. By sacrificing a piece of gear to a Voracious Weapon, players can replace one of the weapon's base affixes with a random affix pulled from the devoured item. Furthermore, the Voracious Weapon will absorb the level of the consumed item, allowing players to continuously scale these unique weapons all the way through the endgame.
Quality of Life and War Ancestors DLC
Alongside the major mechanical additions, the July 27th patch will deploy a wave of bug fixes, optimization tweaks, and highly requested quality-of-life improvements. Based directly on community feedback, the patch includes major buffs to summon behaviors, granting all summoned allies increased movement speed, range, and new cooldown-based attacks.
For players looking to further support the game's development, the update will launch alongside an optional paid DLC: the War Ancestors Pack. This cosmetic add-on provides four exclusive visual armor sets—one for each of the game's playable classes (the Knight, Oracle, Barbarian, and Tracker)—allowing you to hunt Dragon Lords in style.
