Diablo IV Season 10 “Infernal Chaos” Promises Major Overhauls and New Loot Systems

Published on: 8/31/2025
Blizzard Entertainment is gearing up for the launch of Diablo IV Season 10, titled Infernal Chaos, set to go live on September 23, 2025. After a rocky reception to previous seasons - powers, powers and more powers - this update aims to address player frustrations while introducing new mechanics, loot systems, and a fresh seasonal theme centered around chaos and infernal power.
Chaos Armor: A New Tier of Power
The most talked-about addition is Chaos Armor, a new category of gear that builds on the foundation of Unique Items. These pieces:
• Always spawn with maximum power
• Include at least one Greater Affix
• Can drop in armor slots different from their original item type (e.g., a Unique amulet may now drop as boots or chest armor)
Chaos Armor is designed to encourage build experimentation and open up new combinations of offensive and defensive perks. However, it comes with a catch: this gear is seasonal-exclusive and will likely be vaulted after Season 10 ends.
Chaos Perks: Seasonal Powers with Class-Specific Depth
Season 10 introduces Chaos Perks, a new seasonal mechanic that enhances player skills with additional effects. Each class will have access to:
• 16 total Chaos Perks
• 4 class-exclusive perks
• A mix of Magic, Rare, Legendary, and Unique perks
Players can equip up to three non-Unique perks and one Unique perk, allowing for tailored seasonal builds that feel distinct from previous metas. This is essentially a rework to the continued seasonal powers which is a topic players are tired of seeing rehashed over and over/
Infernal Hordes Rework: Faster, Deadlier, More Rewarding
The Infernal Hordes endgame activity has been reworked to include:
• Chaos Waves, which increase difficulty and reward output
• A new boss: Bartuc, the Warlord of Blood
• Streamlined offerings and monster population adjustments
• A new variant called Fleeting Hordes, available in pre-Torment difficulties, featuring four waves and two Fell Council bosses
These changes aim to make the mode more engaging and less grind-heavy, especially for players who felt previous seasons lacked meaningful progression.
Chaos Rifts and Open-World Encounters
Players will also encounter Chaos Rifts across the open world—random portals that spawn Chaos monsters and drop seasonal loot, including Chaos Armor. These rifts also appear in Nightmare Dungeons and are a key source of Fleeting Hordes Compasses, which unlock additional seasonal content.
Boss Immunity Removed: A Long-Awaited Fix
One of the most celebrated changes is the removal of boss immunity phases. Previously, high-tier bosses like Andariel would enter multiple invulnerable states during fights, disrupting pacing and making grinding inefficient. With immunity gone, skilled players can now dispatch bosses in seconds, streamlining endgame farming and rewarding optimized builds.
Overall, Season 10 marks a pivotal moment for Diablo IV. With Chaos Armor offering a huge push towards new builds, revamped endgame systems, and long-requested fixes, Blizzard is signaling a renewed commitment to player feedback and build diversity.
