Diablo IV 2.6.0 PTR: Killstreaks, Bloodied Items, and the Return of the Butcher

Published on: 1/31/2026
Blizzard has officially unveiled the details for the Diablo IV 2.6.0 Public Test Realm (PTR), giving players a first look at the carnage awaiting them in Season 12. Running from February 3 to February 10, this testing period focuses on aggressive new combat systems designed to reward players for maintaining a relentless pace.
Here is a breakdown of the major features coming to the PTR.
The Killstreak System
The headline feature of Season 12 is the new Killstreak System. This mechanic tracks your monster kills in real-time, rewarding you for slaying enemies in quick succession without pausing.
Tiers of Slaughter: As you kill enemies, you advance through five tiers: Killstreak, Carnage, Devastation, Bloodbath, and Massacre.
Rewards: Experience and seasonal reputation are awarded at the end of a streak based on the total kill count and the highest tier reached.
Risk vs. Reward: If you die during a streak, it ends immediately, and you lose any accumulated rewards for that run.
"Bloodied" Items and Sigils
To complement the Killstreak system, a new item quality called Bloodied is being introduced. These items feature specific affixes that scale directly with your Killstreak status.
Rampage Affixes (Armor): passive bonuses that increase in power based on your current Killstreak Tier (e.g., Movement Speed per tier).
Feast Affixes (Weapons): combat bonuses that trigger after a set number of kills (e.g., resetting cooldowns after 40 kills).
Hunger Affixes (Jewelry): modifiers that customize loot drops (e.g., Elites drop Runes more frequently).
Players can also find Bloodied Sigils for Nightmare Dungeons and Infernal Hordes. These special keys summon a relentless version of The Butcher who hunts you throughout the activity. If you kill him, he immediately respawns, creating a constant threat. Surviving these dungeons guarantees Bloodied item drops.
New Unique Items
Several new Unique items will be available for testing, all of which drop from the new Butcher Lair Boss:
Blood-Mad Idol (Amulet): Puts you in a permanent state of Berserking but causes you to take massive damage as Burning over time.
Wendigo Brand (Ring): Increases damage and maximum health based on kills achieved in the last 30–60 seconds.
Thousand-Eye Reaver (Axe): Grants "Ferocity" stacks while moving, which in turn boosts movement speed.
Class Balance & Quality of Life
The PTR patch notes also list extensive balance changes, particularly for the Paladin (introduced in the Vessel of Hatred expansion), aimed at clarifying tooltips and buffing underused skills like Heaven's Fury and Sunbrand.
Paragon Updates: Legendary nodes for multiple classes (Barbarian, Necromancer, Sorcerer) have been reworked to provide simpler, more powerful multipliers rather than complex conditional bonuses.
Visual Updates: Players can now hide sheathed weapons in the Wardrobe for a cleaner look.
Players on PC (Battle.net and Game Pass) can access the PTR starting February 3 at 10:00 a.m. PST.
