Diablo 4 Patch 3.2.0 PTR: Soul Splinters, Rebirth, and Legacy Uniques Revealed

Diablo 4 Patch 3.2.0 PTR: Soul Splinters, Rebirth, and Legacy Uniques Revealed

Published on: 8/1/2026

Blizzard has officially announced the details for the upcoming Diablo 4 Patch 3.2.0 Public Test Realm (PTR). Scheduled to run from August 4 to August 11, 2026, this testing phase will give players a first look at many of the major features arriving in Season 15.

However, the developers noted an important caveat: this PTR will have a intentionally limited feature set. Blizzard is holding back some of the most significant Season 15 announcements for BlizzCon, meaning there is much more to come.

Here is everything you need to know about what is playable in the 3.2.0 PTR.

Soul Splinters: Power With a Bite

The core of the new seasonal power system comes in the form of Soul Splinters. These are unique socketable items specifically designed for jewelry. Available in five rarities (Common, Magic, Rare, Legendary, and Unique), they provide elemental and physical resistances alongside massive power spikes—but they always come with a severe drawback.

For example:

  • Splinter of Anguish: Grants massive Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed, but increases your Primary Resource Costs by 30%.

  • Splinter of Lies: Massively increases Gold and Crafting Material drop rates (up to 100%) and grants a 25% bonus to Experience, but you are permanently inflicted with Weakened and Vulnerable.

  • Splinter of the Black Soulstone: Killing enemies absorbs a soul for 15 seconds, scaling your damage infinitely (up to 5% per stack), but also increases the damage you take by 0.5% per stack.

These splinters can be upgraded using the Horadric Cube to push their buffs (and their resistances) to maximum power.

The Return of Rebirth

One of the most highly requested features from Diablo 3 is finally making its way to Diablo 4. Patch 3.2.0 introduces the Rebirth system, allowing players to take an existing Eternal Realm character and instantly transition them into the new Seasonal Realm at Level 1.

Using Rebirth allows you to keep your character's name, visual customization, and total tracked playtime across all seasons. However, players must manually transfer all gear to their Eternal Stash before clicking Rebirth, as any items left in the character's inventory will be permanently destroyed.

Legacy Uniques and Mythic Changes

To shake up the loot pool, Blizzard is injecting Legacy Uniques drawn directly from Diablo 1, Diablo 2, and Diablo 3. These are permanent additions available in all versions of the game. Five of them will be usable by all classes, and five will be available to a mix of classes. Their affixes remain reminiscent of their original powers but adjusted for current itemization:

Available to All Classes:

  • Leoric's Crown (Helm): Enhances the effect of any gem socketed into it.

  • Nemesis Bracers (Gloves): Spawns Elites when interacting with shrines.

  • Ring of Royal Grandeur (Ring): Reduces the number of items needed for set bonuses.

  • Stone of Jordan (Ring): An iconic powerhouse ring from Diablo 2.

  • Squirt's Blouse (Chest): A reimagining of Squirt's Necklace from Diablo 3 incorporated into a chest piece.

Available to Multiple Classes:

  • Arioc's Needle (2H Polearm): Barbarian, Druid, Spiritborn.

  • Henri's Perquisition (Offhand Focus): Sorcerer, Necromancer, Warlock.

  • In-Geom (1H Sword): Barbarian, Druid, Rogue, Necromancer, Paladin, Warlock.

  • The Furnace (2H Mace): Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Paladin, Warlock.

  • Messerschmidt's Reaver (2H Axe): Coming in Season 15, but not testable on the PTR.

The PTR will also test massive changes to endgame crafting:

  • Deterministic Upgrades: The Horadric Cube will now offer a direct 1:1 upgrade path from a Unique item to its Mythic version. Because this removes the randomness, these items will carry a "Crafted" tag and be restricted by the "only one equipped" rule.

  • Iconic Mythics as Normal Uniques: Iconic Mythic items will now have standard Unique versions that can drop earlier in the game, featuring the same mechanics but significantly less power.

  • Mythic Charms: Originally an accidental bug in Season 14, Mythic Unique Charms are officially being added to the game, rolling with maximum property values and heavily buffed unique affixes.

New Encounters and Quality of Life

While exploring the Overland, players will occasionally trigger a new Hunt event where a powerful demon targets them, giving them 30 seconds to choose to flee or fight a grueling battle. The PTR will also feature early versions of "Challenge Dungeons," which are strictly testing environments to fine-tune new backend systems for whatever the final Season 15 endgame loop will be.

To facilitate testing, the PTR will provide players with a boosted start, instantly granting Level 70, Paragon Level 200, unlocked Torment Tiers, and a fully revealed map.

The PTR will be accessible via the Battle.net app by selecting "Public Test Realm" from the Game Version drop-down menu above the Play button.
