Diablo 4 Patch 3.1.1a Removes Crafted Mythic Limit and Buffs Boss Drops

In a rapid response to community feedback following the launch of Season 14 (Season of Death Awakening), Blizzard has deployed Patch 3.1.1a to address major frustrations surrounding the game's endgame gearing system.

The patch, which went live for PC players on July 16 and console players on July 17, removes the season's most controversial restriction and significantly boosts the drop rates of top-tier loot.

Crafted Mythic Limit Completely Removed

At the launch of Season 14, Blizzard introduced a new system allowing any Unique item to become a Mythic Unique. However, this came with a massive catch: players could only equip one crafted Mythic item at a time. This meant if you spent your hard-earned Pandemonium Fragments at the Horadric Cube to craft multiple Mythic items, the game would forcibly lock you out from wearing more than one of them simultaneously.

Patch 3.1.1a has completely removed this restriction. Players can now equip as many crafted Mythic Uniques as they want, provided they don't violate standard equipment slot rules (you still can't wear two helmets, for example). This change allows players to finally use the gear they have spent the season farming for, making the endgame chase far more rewarding.

Increased Corrupted Reaper Drop Rates

The patch also delivers a major buff to the seasonal Lair Boss, the Corrupted Reaper. Blizzard has significantly increased the drop rates for both standard Mythic and Iconic Unique items from this boss encounter.

While the developers did not provide exact percentages for the new drop rates, players are already reporting much higher yields. This builds upon an earlier patch (3.1.1) that allowed the Corrupted Reaper to drop up to two Pandemonium Fragments per kill, making the boss the definitive core of the Season 14 farming loop.

Unique Charms and Future Season 15 Changes

The patch wasn't entirely full of buffs, as Blizzard did fix an unintended bug. Players can no longer use the Horadric Cube to add the Mythic modifier to Unique Charms and Seals, a mechanic the developers noted was an accidental byproduct of a different fix.

Looking ahead, Blizzard has already teased how Mythic crafting will evolve in Season 15. The team plans to replace the random Mythic reroll recipe in the Horadric Cube with a direct upgrade path. In Season 15, placing a Unique item into the Cube will directly upgrade it to the Mythic version of that exact same item. However, the developers noted they will evaluate bringing back the "one-crafted Mythic" limit specifically for that new, deterministic crafting path.

For now, players can enjoy the freedom of outfitting their characters with multiple crafted Mythic items as they take on the hardest challenges Season of Death Awakening has to offer.
