Diablo 4 is Revolutionizing its Endgame with Customizable "War Plans" and Fishing

For ARPG veterans, the true game doesn't begin until the campaign is over. Recognizing the community's desire for a seamless, continuous endgame loop without tedious town logistics, Blizzard is radically restructuring Diablo 4's endgame in the upcoming Lord of Hatred expansion. By completely removing the friction between activities, the developers are finally handing players the keys to design their own personalized farming routes.
Masterminding the Endgame with War Plans
The biggest addition to the endgame is a massive new system called War Plans. Starting at the command table in the new capital city of Tenis, players can literally script out a playlist of up to five different endgame activities. Once a War Plan is locked in, players can seamlessly teleport from one activity directly to the next without ever having to return to a hub or sort through inventory. Amazingly, if a player wants to chain together multiple Nightmare Dungeons but doesn't have the sigils, the War Plans system will simply generate them on the fly.
To add even more depth, completing these custom routes feeds into dedicated Activity Trees. Players can invest points to heavily tune their rewards and encounters. For example, investing in the Lair Boss tree allows players to cross-pollinate the game's biggest threats, dragging bosses like The Beast in the Ice directly into their Nightmare Dungeon runs, or forcing Grigoire to spawn out of Helltide chests.
Expanding The Pit, The Tower, and Adding Fishing
Existing endgame pillars are also receiving major upgrades. The Pit has been entirely rebuilt to span exactly five floors per run, giving players a much clearer sense of depth and progression. Death penalties have been entirely removed to keep the focus on fast-paced action, and bosses will now aggressively ambush the party by spawning directly on top of them without waiting for the arena to be cleared. Meanwhile, competitive players pushing The Tower will discover a new Artificer's Stash containing guaranteed Greater Affix items, alongside a highly requested Build Viewer that saves exact snapshots of the gear used by the top players on the leaderboard.
For those looking to take a breather from the relentless demon slaughter, Blizzard is officially introducing a fishing mini-game. Unlocked early in the new Scobos region, fishing serves as a laid-back, social collection activity. Players can hunt down extremely rare, occasionally gruesome fish variants and trade them with friends to complete their collections.
The Bottom Line
By introducing the deeply customizable War Plans system, Blizzard is effectively eliminating the tedious downtime between Diablo 4's endgame activities. Combined with the sprawling improvements to The Pit and The Tower, as well as the relaxing addition of fishing, the Lord of Hatred expansion is transforming Sanctuary into a seamless, deeply engaging playground tailored exactly to how the player wants to farm.
