Deep Rock Galactic Rogue Core is adding new classes

Deep Rock Galactic stands out among co-op shooters for its witty humor, distinctive visuals, and fully destructible environments. While not a true sequel, Deep Rock Galactic Rogue Core reimagines the experience with a roguelike spin, generating plenty of excitement. Developer Ghost Ship Games recently announced a closed alpha, giving a select few the chance to dive in soon, and revealed two new classes—Spotter and Guardian—joining the previously introduced Falconeer and Slicer.
Showcased at the Triple-i event with a new trailer, Rogue Core keeps the core feel and look of Deep Rock Galactic, which is wise given the game’s massive following and reputation as a top co-op title. It sports sharper visuals and a slightly darker, eerier vibe at times, but remains instantly familiar to fans. Unlike the original, where you’d enter missions with optimized gear, Rogue Core has you upgrading equipment as you descend, with difficulty scaling in classic roguelike style. The trailer highlights dwarves grabbing new weapons from level-based terminals and purchasing abilities and buffs. Permanent upgrades that persist between runs ensure meaningful progression over time, softening the sting of resets after each dive.
Ghost Ship’s press release detailed the new classes: the Spotter pinpoints prime targets, while the Guardian shields the team from the Core Spawn—mutated monsters you’ll be battling throughout the mines.
