Retailation Reflect Warlord Build Guide

About

If your ultimate power fantasy is standing completely still while an entire screen of cosmic horrors melts itself against your shield, you are looking for the Retaliation Warlord. By combining the raw, unyielding tankiness of the Soldier with the fiery, shield-smashing synergy of the Oathkeeper, the Warlord stands as the absolute king of defensive combat.

Unlike traditional "reflect" builds in other ARPGs, Grim Dawn splits defensive offensive mechanics into two distinct categories: Damage Reflection (which returns a percentage of incoming damage) and Retaliation Damage (which adds massive, flat blocks of damage directly to enemies whenever they hit you in melee).

The Warlord scales both to absurd degrees, making it one of the safest, most hardcore-viable builds in the game.

The Perfect Class Synergy

  • The Soldier provides the raw physical foundation. With skills like Menhir's Will, Military Conditioning, and Overguard, you gain massive health pools, unparalleled armor absorption, and health regeneration that triggers automatically when you drop low.

  • The Oathkeeper provides the offensive teeth. Skills like Perdition and Reprisal directly boost your retaliation numbers, while Presence of Virtue scales your internal trauma and physical retaliation across the board.
