About

The Chaos Werewolf Mystic (Berserker + Occultist) is a Hardcore-viable, beginner-friendly starter build designed for fresh-start play in Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn. It requires no pre-existing gear or banked stash items, naturally scaling from Level 1 all the way to Level 100 using solo-self-found Monster Frequent items.

By pairing the aggressive melee dual-wield capabilities of the Berserker’s Werewolf transformation with the Chaos scaling and resistance reduction from the Occultist mastery, this build achieves massive single-target DPS, incredible self-healing, and top-tier tankiness. It is capable of clearing all endgame dungeons on Ascendant mode and taking down ultimate superbosses like Ravager, Mogdrogen, and Lokarr.

Skill Rotation

  1. Pre-Buff & Maintain Auras: Ensure permanent toggles remain active at all times: Solael’s Witchfire, Possession, and Amatok’s Pact. Keep Blood of Dreeg active continuously to maintain offensive ability and poison/physical resistances.

  2. Apply Debuffs: Initiate engagement by casting Curse of Frailty (Vulnerability) onto groups or bosses to strip Chaos and elemental resistances.

  3. Drop Area Control: Cast Sigil of Consumption beneath the enemy cluster to begin dealing continuous Chaos damage while leeching health back.

  4. Shred & Heal: Trigger Rending Cry / Frenzy Cry on cooldown to apply additional enemy resistance reduction, grant offensive ability, and proc instant health restoration.

  5. Melee Assault: Engage targets directly in Werewolf Form, leveraging fast dual-wield auto-attacks enhanced by flat Chaos damage conversion to shred through enemy health bars.

Occultist

  • Solael's Witchfire & Second Rite: The core Chaos aura. Grants significant flat Chaos damage, percentage increases to Chaos damage, and extra attack speed.

  • Curse of Frailty & Vulnerability: Your primary active debuff skill used to heavily reduce enemy movement speed and Chaos/Elemental resistances.

  • Sigil of Consumption & Destruction: Placed directly underneath enemies for persistent AoE Chaos damage. The vitality/fire conversion turns this into a massive source of passive life leech.

  • Blood of Dreeg & Aspect of the Guardian: Provides essential burst healing, massive Offensive Ability, and crucial bonuses to Physical and Poison resistances.

  • Possession: The primary Exclusive Skill for the build. Grants percentage damage absorption, high scaling Chaos damage, flat Chaos damage, and crowd control resistance.
